Dubai-based flydubai on Sunday announced the start of flights to the port city of Chattogram next month, says a statement.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE)' airlines said it will operate daily flights to the business hub of Bangladesh from January 20.

Commenting on the start of flights to Chattogram, flydubai's Senior Vice President, Commercial (UAE, GCC, Subcontinent and Africa), Sudhir Sreedharan, said they are delighted that the airlines, which flies to over 90 destinations across the globe, will further expand its wings by bringing Bangladesh's south-eastern commercial city under its network.

"It reaffirms our commitment to serve underserved destinations and with daily flights we look forward to our passengers benefiting from our direct and convenient flights to Dubai and beyond," he said.

The statement said Emirates will codeshare on this route as part of the Emirates-flydubai partnership announced in July last year.

For bookings under the codeshare, Emirates passengers will receive complimentary meals and the Emirates checked baggage allowance on flights operated by flydubai in Economy class.

With the partnership, passengers from Bangladesh will have an opportunity to travel via Dubai to hundreds of destinations all over the world.

Following are the flight schedules:

FZ589 is scheduled to depart Dubai International Terminal-2 at 03:20 hrs, arriving into Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram at 10:05hrs local time. FZ590 is scheduled to depart Shah Amanat Airport at 1105 hrs local time, landing in Dubai International Terminal-2 at 1505hrs local time.

The Economy Class return fares to Chattogram from Dubai will start from AED (Arab Emirates dirham) 1,500. One dirham is equivalent to 22.80 Bangladeshi Taka.

The Economy Class return fares to Dubai will start from US $490.

Flights can be purchased from flydubai's website (flydubai.com), its customer centre (+971) 600 54 44 45, flydubai travel shops or through travel partners.

Since commencing operations in June, 2009, flydubai has marked its journey with a number of milestones that represent the scale of the ambition planned for the airline. Over the next decade the airline will see its fleet grow by up to 296 aircraft.

The airlines, which has carried more than 60 million passengers since 2009, placed the largest single-aisle aircraft orders in the region at the 2013 and 2017 editions of the Dubai Airshow.

It has created free flows of trade and tourism and enhancing connectivity between different cultures across its network.
