National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque has said that he has observed a friendly relation existing between owners and workers at Walton factory at Gazipur's Chandra.

He made the observation after visiting the factory of electronics, electrical, ICT and home appliances manufacturer in the outskirts of the capital recently, says a statement.

About the issue of profit sharing among workers, the NHRC chief said that there are many multinational companies in the country who do not distribute dividends among the workers.

"However, Walton, being a local company, is distributing a certain portion of its profits among workers which is exemplary for others," he viewed.

He praised the company for not employing child labourers.

He thanked the authorities of the company for ensuring a 'suitable' environment for workers.

He noted that following establishment of the factory, domestic production of the electronics, electrical, ICT items, and home and kitchen appliances increased significantly, reducing the import cost.

"Employment and business opportunities have been created for many people with the establishment of Walton factory in the country," Reazul Hoque added.

During his visit, he was accompanied by secretary of the commission Hiranamaya Baroi, director (complain and investigation) Al-Mahmud Fayzul Kabir, director (admin and finance) Kazi Arfan Ashik, deputy directors Mohammad Gazi Salauddin and M Rabiul Islam and public relation officer Farhana Sayed.
