KISHOREGANJ, Apr 5 (BSS): Food Adviser Ali Imam Majumder said the government has sufficient food grains in stock, so there is no concern regarding food security.

"The government has sufficient food grain stocks and is importing additional supplies to compensate for the damage caused to Aman paddy in the last flood. Furthermore, there will be a bumper harvest of Boro paddy across the country, including in the haors," he said.

Ali Imam Majumder, also land adviser to the interim government, said this while speaking at a farmers' rally at Ashtagram upazila of the district on Saturday.

"If everything goes well, the country will have a food surplus this year... The government is making relentless efforts to ensure that country's farmers get fair price for their crops," he remarked.

At the programme, when the adviser inquired about the issues faced by farmers, several farmers raised concerns about irrigation problems, road infrastructure issues, and the lack of proper drinking water.

In response, he directed the Deputy Commissioner of the district to resolve these issues on an urgent basis.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fauzia Khan presided over the function. Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury, Ashtagram Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Dilshad Jahan and Ashtagram Agriculture Officer Avijeet Sarker were present.

After the meeting, the adviser visited Boro fields in the haor areas.
