KHULNA, Feb 11 (BSS): Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin said the government plans to increase the number of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) cards to ten million.

"The government will revise the TCB card system, raising the coverage to ten million and the work will be implemented as soon as possible," he said.

The adviser made the remark during a view-exchange meeting with TCB dealers and other stakeholders at the Khulna deputy commissioner's conference room on Monday.

He said those who are truly needy and eligible would be brought under the TCB card system coverage.

"Huge anomalies existed with the TCB card distribution in the past... We will never do what the fascists had done. If we do so, there would be no difference between us and them (fascist)," he added.

The adviser also directed the officials concerned to ensure that political divisions would not influence the distribution of TCB cards.

TCB Chairman Brigadier General Mohammad Faisal Azad and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam were present at the event.
