Huawei seeks to set up innovation centre in BD

Chinese telecommunication company Huawei has expressed its interest to establish a world-class innovation centre in Bangladesh.
The technology company also wants to increase its investment in various sectors of Bangladesh such as big data analysis, advance computing, cyber security analysis and fifth generation (5G) telecommunication network.
A delegation comprising two top officials of Huawei Technologies Company Limited spoke of their plans at a meeting with Kazi M Aminul Islam, executive chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), on Tuesday, said a statement.
Lauding the investment climate in Bangladesh, the Huawei officials said the company is interested to increase its investment in Bangladesh by the next year under a new scheme.
In response, Mr Islam said the BIDA would provide all kinds of supports to Huawei for establishing the innovation centre.
Bangladesh has become an attractive destination for investment, he said, adding that the investment climate is gradually improving.
Mr Islam also discussed the prospect of forming the 'Invest in Bangladesh Forum' comprising Shenzhen-based leading companies with joint collaboration of the BIDA and Huawei.
Shenzhen city is a renowned global technology hub, which houses headquarters of leading China-based companies.
