Industry-Academia Collaboration Nestlé hosts BUET team at Sreepur factory

A team from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) visited the production facilities of Nestlé Bangladesh in Sreepur, Gazipur, on Thursday.

A team from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) visited the production facilities of Nestlé Bangladesh in Sreepur, Gazipur, on Thursday, says a press statement.

The BUET team was led by Prof Dr Mohidus Samad Khan, Director of the Institute of Appropriate Technology (IAT) BUET. The other members of the BUET team were Prof Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Bhuiyan, Assistant Professor Rifat Rahman, and students from the Institute of Appropriate Technology and the Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET.

A high-profile team from Nestlé Bangladesh, led by Md Rashedul Hasan Kayes Alhayat, Manufacturing Director, welcomed the BUET team. The Nestlé Bangladesh team also included Major Habib Haq (retd), Senior Manager - Corporate Affairs & Security, at Nestlé Bangladesh, Dip Raj Baidya, Corporate Affairs Manager, ASM Shamsuzzaman, Head of Engineering, Rezaul Karim, Head of Production, Ripon Kumar, Manager & Unit head of Nutrition & Beverage Unit, and Md. Ali Zobayer, Process Engineering Manager.

During the industrial visit, BUET students learned about the application of global technologies in industrial product manufacturing processes as well as the overall management system of an industrial enterprise.

Heads of different departments of Nestlé Bangladesh provided a detailed overview of the company's operations. They highlighted Nestlé's 158-year journey. Nestlé Bangladesh initiated its operations in 1992. At present, Nestlé is operating in 185 countries with more than 2,000 brands.

Regarding the visit, Dr. Mohidus Samad Khan said, "Nestlé is a global brand with a high reputation and state-of-the-art technology and compliance practices. In today's visit, the BUET team has gained real-life knowledge about standard practices of world-class production processes. BUET is strong in engineering teaching, research, and project implementation. BUET would like to establish a strong 'Industry-Academia' relationship with Nestlé Bangladesh, which will include joint research and development, technology transfer, and student internship programs."

Nestlé Bangladesh's Manufacturing Director Rashedul Hasan, said, "It is almost impossible to find someone who has not experienced a Nestlé product. Likewise, there is hardly any country in the world where Nestlé does not have a presence. Even while being in Bangladesh, we are producing international standard products. The infrastructure of the Nestlé Bangladesh factory is to the European standard. BUET is a highly reputed academic organization in Bangladesh, and BUET graduates play a vital role in carrying out the world-class manufacturing processes of Nestlé Bangladesh."

He expressed a strong interest in building long-term collaboration between Nestlé Bangladesh and BUET.
