Int'l show on bldg construction, woodworking starts in city

The three-day twin international event, one on building construction and the other on woodworking, kicked off in the city on Thursday.

International Convention City, Bashundhara is simultaneously hosting the two international expositions, styled the fifth edition of 'Bangladesh BUILDCON International Expo-2019' and the fifth International JAT presents 'Bangladesh WOOD 2019'.

Deputy High Commissioner of High Commission of India in Dhaka Bishwadip Dey inaugurated both the fair as the chief guest.

ASK Trade and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd and Futurex Trade Fairs and Events Pvt Ltd have jointly organised the dual show, having a wide range of modern machinery on display.

A total of ten countries are participating in the trade shows focusing on architecture, building and construction materials and technology.

Superintending Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department Engineer A N M Enayet Ullah, Chairman of Furniture Sector Industry Skills Council Limited Md Abu Yousuf, Chairman of Bangladesh Furniture Exporters Association KM Akhtaruzzaman, Managing Director of Futurex Trade Fair and Events Private Limited Prem Anveshi, Managing Director of ASK Trade and Exhibitions Private Limited Tipu Sultan Bhuiyan and Director Nanda Gopal were present at the inaugural ceremony, among others.

"Bangladesh WOOD is the only trade show being organised by us in the country focused on woodworking and furniture sector of the country enabling the sector to be modernised," said ASK Trade and Exhibitions Managing Director Tipu Sultan.

The participants will showcase more than 3,000 products, including, materials, equipment, machinery and technology related to building, construction, roadways along with woodworking machinery for furniture production, hardware and tools, fittings and fixtures, coating, laminating materials and technology, boards and abrasives and adhesives for the benefit of the construction and furniture sector in the country.

Participating countries in the international shows are China, India, Turkey, Hong Kong, USA, Sri Lanka, Austria, Malaysia, Italy and host Bangladesh.

The June 20-22 event will remain open between 11am to 8pm every day.
