Japan entrepreneurs keen to invest in PPP projects

Japanese entrepreneurs are keenly interested to invest in the public-private partnership projects (PPP) in Bangladesh, reports UNB.
This was conveyed by newly appointed Japanese ambassador Hiryasu Izumi when he met State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid at the latter's office in the Energy Ministry on Sunday.
The Japanese envoy hoped that Bangladesh will see the growing investment interests of his country's entrepreneurs in different sectors.
Welcoming the Japanese ambassador, the state minister informed him about the state of different Japan-funded projects in Bangladesh.
He noted that presently, five projects in energy sector and 11 in power sector are being implemented in the country with Japanese financial supports.
He sought continuous support of Japan in timely completion of the projects and also urged the Japanese ambassador to help bring in more investment from his country.
They discussed various issues such as new investment in power and energy sector and investment of Kafco in Bangladesh.
Energy secretary Nazimuddin Chowdhury and councilor of Japan Embassy in Dhaka Yasuharu Shinto were also present at the meeting.
