Japan provides audio-visual equipment to Nat'l Zoo

The government of Japan on Sunday handed over audio-visual equipment worth US$60,291 to Bangladesh National Zoo for educational exhibition under the scheme of Grant Assistance for Cultural Grassroots Projects, reports UNB.

Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh Hiroyasu Izumi and Kazi Wasi Uddin, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, attended the handover ceremony, moderated by Dr SM Nazrul Islam, Curator of the Zoo.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Izumi mentioned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe underlined that the mutual understanding between the peoples of Japan and Bangladesh should be deepened in various fields, including education and culture.

The Ambassador also expressed the hope that such cooperation will further facilitate amicable friendship between the two peoples.

In response, Additional Secretary Kazi Wasi Uddin expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the government of Japan for providing the grant to Bangladesh National Zoo.

Prior to the handover ceremony, the Bangladesh National Zoo organised a workshop on wild animals for 50 students from Save the Future School and 30 students from Zoo and Botanical Garden High School.

The workshop was conducted by Dr Koly Mustafa, Officer-in- Charge of the zoo's museum.
