Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bangladesh will honour 10 youths for their outstanding contributions to different sectors, including business.

The award-giving ceremony, styled 'Ten Outstanding Young Persons' (TOYP) will be held at a hotel in the capital on September 18.

Leaders of the JCI Bangladesh made the announcement at a meet-the-press at the National Press Club in the city on Sunday.

JCI National President Irfan Islam, National Treasurer and TOYP Committee Chair Sakib Ahmed, National Executive Vice President Sarah Kamal and other members of the organisation were present at the press conference.

Briefing the media on the TOYP, Sakib Ahmed said the voluntary organisation will recognise 10 youths aged between 18 and 40 for their achievements and contributions to the fields including business, sports, politics, society, environment, culture, healthcare and technology.

Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will attended the award-giving programme and present the nominated individuals with awards, according to the organisers.

A panel of judges is now short-listing the nominees from several hundred applications submitted to the JCI Bangladesh, they said.

Irfan Islam said by recognising these young people, JCI Bangladesh encourages them and others to seek excellence and serve others.

Through this event, JCI Bangladesh is contributing to the country by preparing better leaders who will create better society in future and contribute to the youth development in Bangladesh, he added.

JCI Bangladesh has been organising the TOYP since 2013.

JCI is a worldwide community of young citizens aged between 18 and 40 who are dedicated to creating a positive change they want to see in themselves and the world.

The JCI has nearly 200,000 active members in 115 countries across the globe.
