JETRO urged to ink MoU with DCCI

President of DCCI Mohammad Shahjahan Khan in a dialogue with Country Representative of JETRO in Bangladesh Kei Kawalo as the latter called on him in the city on Thursday.

Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) has been urged to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DCCI to accelerate bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Japan.

President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Mohammad Shahjahan Khan made the appeal while Country Representative of JETRO in Bangladesh Kei Kawalo called on him in the city on Thursday, said a press release.

The DCCI chief also urged Japanese businessmen to use DCCI Help Desk for their investment in Bangladesh.

The DCCI president told the JETRO representative that Bangladesh-Japan relationship is vital and equally important for both the countries from the trade and economic perspective.

He also informed JETRO representative about the "DCCI Help Desk" situated on DCCI premise to render various services on trade, commerce and investment to the business entrepreneurs at home and abroad.

Mr Khan appreciated JETRO for taking a project on preparing "Comprehensive Taxation Manual for Japanese Investors in Bangladesh".

He also thanked the JETRO chief for his willingness to organise a joint seminar where Japanese and other potential regional investors will also remain present.

In reply, Mr Kawalo expressed his keen interest to cooperate with DCCI in this respect.

Mr Kawalo also showed his interest to sign MoU with DCCI to cooperate and participate in different activities of DCCI.

He also said that JETRO is interested to translate and publish "Business Start-up Licenses: A Regulatory Guide" published by BUILD in Japanese Language to facilitate Japanese Business entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh.

Mr Kawalo said Bangladesh should take positive steps to build image of the country in respect of doing business.

Among others, DCCI Vice President Kh Shahidul Islam was present during the meeting.
