‘KPI can play key role’ in RMG sector development

The key performance indicator (KPI) is a management tool which can play a significant role for the development of readymade garment (RMG) sector, a paper said.

The KPI can also be vital in identifying the areas where professional accountants can play a key role, said the paper presented at a continuing professional development (CPD) programme in Chattogram.

Chattogram Branch Council of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organised the programme, styled "KPI as a Management Tool and The Role of CMA's - a perspective from the RMG Industry", at the CMA Bhaban in Agrabad recently, says a statement.

ICMAB Chattogram Branch Council Chairman Md. Moazzam Haider, FCMA, presided over the event with Lions International District Governor, President of BGMEA Institute of Fashion & Technology and former first vice president of BGMEA Nasir Uddin Chowdhury present as the chief guest.

Managing Director of Island Securities Ltd., Chattogram, Mohammed Mohiuddin, FCMA, attended the function as session chairman.

The paper on the programme was presented by Chief Financial Officer of Hirdaramani Bangladesh Russel Barua CFC, FCMA & CMA (UK).

Terming the KPI a management tool which can play significant role for the RMG sector development Russel said the indicator can point out the areas where professional accountants can play a vital role.

In his speech, session chairman Mohiuddin mentioned some valuable points for saving the RMG sector. He also praised the initiatives taken by the government in this regard.

Nasir Uddin thanked the Chattogram Branch Council (CBC) for organising such a timely programme. He said that this type of programme can contribute a lot to attain the target of sustainable growth set by the government.

A large number of fellow and associate members of ICMAB Chattogram Branch participated in the event.

Shahidul Hoque, ACMA, conducted the programme and the vote of thanks was given by Chairman of CPD Committee of the CBC Mohammed Nazmul Hoque, FCMA.
