Lub-reff brings in fuel efficient, green techs

FE Report | January 21, 2019 00:00:00

Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd., manufacturer of BNO lubricants, has introduced two new technologies related to engine and transfer oil aiming to increase fuel efficiency, enhance engine lifetime and improve performance.

The two technologies, called 'Naphthenic-based Transformer Oil' and 'Nano Technology in lubricants' have been developed in cooperation with two European companies.

Lub-rref introduced the technologies at a seminar on 'Environment Friendly and Cost Effective Technology in Lubricants and Power Sector of Bangladesh' at a hotel in the capital on Sunday.

Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Kazi M Aminul Islam attended the programme as the chief guest.

Managing Director (MD) of Lub-reff Mohammed Yousuf chaired the event.

Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Charlotta Schlyter, and Professor of Chemical Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Dr Ijaz Hossain were present as the special guests.

Speaking on the occasion, the BIDA executive chairman said with the rapid industrial development in coming days, the country will need more advanced and power efficient engine oil.

He said electricity generation of the country has reached 20,000 megawatts and demands coupled with electricity consumption have gone up.

As a result, there are very high demands of energy related oils and products, he said.

Hailing the new technology introduced at the event, Kazi Aminul Islam said Bangladesh's economy is shifting to technology, knowledge and innovation-based economy from a labour intensive one.

"In such circumstances, the technology presented by a local brand is an inspiring achievement, which ultimately will help the country improve its branding," he added.

Lub-reff MD Mohammed Yousuf said BNO as a Bangladeshi brand is providing world class lubricants to the county's industrial, power and automobile sector.

He said the technologies are the latest in lubricant industry. They are also environment friendly and cost effective, he added.

The seminar was told that, developed in Finland, Nano technology in lubricant is aimed at attaining fuel efficiency, enhancing lifetime and improve engine performance.

Besides, the Naphthenic technology-based transformer oil, developed in Sweden, is basically wax-free and has a good flowing feature under low temperature and good heat distribution oil. It is also well known for its environment friendly feature.
