State-owned Bangladesh Milk Producers' Cooperative Union Ltd marketing its products under the brand name Milk Vita made a profit of over Tk 180 million (18 crore) in the fiscal year 2015-16, reports UNB.

It was disclosed at a review meeting on Milk Vita activities held at Dugdha Bhaban, Tejgaon, in the capital on Saturday.

Chaired by Milk Vita chairman Sheikh Nadir Hossain, the meeting was addressed, among others, by State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga, Milk Vita managing director Md Zakir Hossain and cooperatives registrar Md Mofizul Islam.

They said Milk Vita collects 14,000 litres of milk from cooperative farmers of the country a day and supplies it to the market after processing, which helps meet the local demand.

Warning Milk Vita officials that no irregularity would be tolerated in the cooperatives, Ranga urged them to work sincerely to bring its lost glory back.
