Minister warns of action against unlicensed drinking water traders

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Monday said the government will take strict measures against the unlicensed and low quality drinking water traders, reports BSS.

"Ensuring safe water is the responsibility of the government. So the government will take firm steps to fulfill the responsibility," he said while meeting with the leaders of Pure Drinking Water Manufacturing Association of Bangladesh at Industries Ministry in the city, said a statement.

He asked the leaders of the organisation to submit the list of unauthorised and low quality water producing companies to the Industries Ministry.

Humayun said the government has already expedited the activities of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) to ensure safe consumer food, including drinking water.

Among others, convener of the organisation M Neamul Haque Ripon and member secretary M Mujibur Rahman were present at the meeting.
