Myanmar's sea trade reaches over $11 billion

YANGON, Mar 31 (Xinhua): Myanmar's trade with foreign countries through sea route reached over 11.05 billion US dollars as of March 15 in the current fiscal year 2018-2019 starting in October last year, according to Myanmar's Commerce Ministry on Saturday.
During this period, Myanmar's maritime export hit over 4.2 billion US dollars while its import reached 6.85 billion US dollars.
The figure decreased by about 100 million US dollars compared to the same period of the last FY 2017-2018 which showed over 11.15 billion US dollars.
During the period, the country's total foreign trade registered over 15.51 billion US dollars with 4.46 billion US dollars' border trade, according to the ministry's figures.
The country mainly exports agricultural products, animal products, fisheries, minerals and forest products while imports capital goods, intermediate goods, consumer goods and products using Cutting, Making and Packing (CMP) system.
