National Productivity Day on October 02

The National Productivity Day-2017 will be observed across the country on October 2 to create awareness at national level in a bid to raise productivity in different sectors, reports UNB. The theme of the day this year is "Productivity for Sustainable Development and Growth." The National Productivity Organisation (NPO) under the Ministry of Industries has chalked out elaborate programmes in observance of the day. The programmes include bringing out a colourful rally from the road beside the Osmani Memorial Auditorium at 8:00am on the day. Officials and employees of the different ministries and private organisations will take part in the rally, to be led by Industries Secretary Muhammad Abdullah, said a press release on Thursday. Later, a seminar titled "Productivity for Sustainable Development and Growth" will be held at the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) auditorium in the city. Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed is expected to attend the seminar as the chief guest. President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give separate messages marking the day. Besides, Bangladesh Television will air a talk show while newspapers will publish supplements highlighting the significance of the day. As part of the nationwide campaign, the mobile phone operators will send SMS and voice mail on the day to create awareness among the people to increase productivity in different fields including industrial, agriculture and service sectors.
