The National Board of Revenue (NBR) in separate functions accorded reception to 119 highest tax payers in Khulna and Rajshahi on the occasion of income tax fair, reports BSS.
Among them, 77 taxpayers of Khulna division were accorded reception in Khulna city and 42 of Rajshahi division were honoured in Rajshahi city. The NBR honoured them as the recognition of their contribution to the national economy.
In Khulna, the highest tax payers were accorded reception in four categories - highest tax payers, long time tax payers, highest women tax payers and youth recognised tax payers.
Khulna Income Tax Zone Commissioner's Office hosted the divisional level reception-giving function at Hotel City Inn with the main objective of inspiring the taxpayers in paying more tax and creating new taxpayer.
Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the programme as the chief guest and handed over certificates and crests to the best taxpayers in Khulna zone. Commissioner of Khulna Tax Zone Proshanto Kumar Roy chaired the event.
In Rajshahi city, the 42 highest taxpayers were accorded reception in seven categories as recognition of their contribution to boost the national revenue.
The Commissioner's Office of Rajshahi Income Tax Zone hosted the divisional level reception and crest-giving function at Shaheed A H M Kamaruzzaman Zila Parishad Auditorium with the main thrust of inspiring the taxpayers to pay more tax and boosting the number of taxpayers.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Humayun Kabir Khondokar and Customs, Excise and VAT Commissioner Lutfor Rahman addressed the ceremony as chief and special guests respectively with Dr Khandakar Ferdous Alam, Commissioner of Income Taxes, in the chair.
Tax Appellate Commissioner Md Masud, Joint Commissioner Ashique Rana, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Md Muniruzzaman and President of Income tax Lawyers Association Mozaharul Haque also spoke.
