New ride-hailing firm launches operations

Rayder, an app-based ride-hailing service, has formally launched its operations in Bangladesh. Rayder Ridesharing App has been developed in the country by some Bangladeshi IT specialists, which is expected to operate soon in the United States, Canada and other countries. Rayder Rideshare Enterprise Incorporate Ltd announced its launch on Wednesday at a press conference in Dhaka. Female cricket organiser Nafisa Kamal inaugurated the service as the chief guest. She appreciated and congratulated the efforts to develop a world class app. "The Bangladeshi IT specialists have proved themselves that we can beat the world," she said. Chairman of Rayder Golam Sarwar said his company would provide services at lower rate compared with those of other ridesharing services. Initially, the ride-sharing service will be available in Dhaka, Gazipur and Narayanganj and the company has plans to expand the services to other cities of the country. Fare of the Rayder service has been fixed at Tk 11 a kilometre, which is less than Tk 1.0 from other services. Besides, base fare has been fixed at Tk 25 and the minimum rental is Tk 50, officials said. So far, the number of registered bikes is more than 300, the company said. Managing director of the company Manhajul Arefin Russell and its spokesperson MM Rahman were also present at the press conference.
