Five power sector entities win awards

Prime Minister's Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury on Wednesday said the innovative programmes of the power division increased confidence of the people. 'Alor Feriwala', an initiative for providing quick power connection to slum dwellers has reposed confidence on the people," he said this while opening the Innovation Showcasing-2019 as the chief guest at Bidyut Bhaban. Speaking at the programme as the special guest, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid urged authorities for adopting coordinated projects for development. "Decision and development are related with a thread. It is essential to increase use of technology to make quick decisions," he said. The innovative showcasing selected five enterprises for awards out of 25 pilot initiatives of the showcasing. The winners are Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB), Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA), Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited, Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO) and West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited. — BSS
