Gold prices fall
The prices of all categories of gold have declined uniformly by Tk 100 per gram (Tk 1,166.40 per bhori) in the local market with effect from Wednesday. It is for the second time this year the local jewellers reduced the gold prices, according to a press release issued by the Bangladesh Jewellers' Samity (BAJUS). Earlier, they reduced the prices of the precious metal on 18 June last. Because of revision of the cost, (22 carat) gold ornament is selling at Tk 56,862 per bhori (11.664 gram) while 21 carat Tk 54,529.2 per bhori, 18 carat Tk 49,513.68 per bhori and traditional gold Tk 29,160 per bhori in the domestic market. The previous prices of gold 22 carat Tk 58028.4 per bhori while 21 carat Tk 55,695.6 per bhori, 18 carat Tk 50,680.08 and traditional gold Tk 30326.4 per bhori. BAJUS revised the gold prices as it is declined in the international market, the press release said. However, the price of silver remained unchanged.— FE Report
Huawei introduces new operating system
Huawei launched HarmonyOS, a new microkernel-based distributed operating system (OS) designed to deliver a cohesive user experience across all devices and scenarios. "We're entering a day and age where people expect a holistic intelligent experience across all devices and scenarios," said Richard Yu, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Huawei's Consumer Business Group, while unveiling the OS with cutting edge features. "We needed an OS that supports all scenarios, that can be used across a broad range of devices and platforms, and that can meet consumer demand for low latency and strong security," said Yu. Mentioning that HarmonyOS is a completely different OS from Android and iOS, he said it has trustworthy and secure architecture, and it supports seamless collaboration across devices. — BSS
