Confidence Batteries supports solar pilot project

Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Energy Adviser to the Prime Minister, has inaugurated the Pilot Project of Solar Power Tricycle of Institute of Energy at Dhaka University. The project was inaugurated during the '18th National Renewable Energy and Green Expo 2018' organised by the Institute of Energy of the university and Bangladesh Solar Energy Society (BSES) recently at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban. Under this project, the Institute of Energy has conducted an experimental research on solar run tricycle, which will provide shuttle service to the faculty members around the university campus. This project is supported by Confidence Batteries Limited, a sister concern of Confidence Group. Salman Karim, Managing Director of Confidence Infrastructure and Confidence Batteries Limited; Professor Dr. Saiful Huque, Director of Institute of Energy; Mohammed Tariqul Islam, Head of Group HR & Corporate Communications of Confidence Group; Dr. S. M. Nasif Shams, Assistant Professor, Institute of Energy, Dhaka University and other officials of Institute of Energy and Confidence Batteries Limited were present at the inaugural ceremony.— Statement

Uber launches new services in capital

Uber, the world's largest on-demand ridesharing company, launched Thursday uberHIRE in Dhaka. With uberHIRE, riders can book longer duration trips for day-long meetings, shopping or to simply explore and travel around the city, the company said. "We are always thinking of innovative ways to enhance the experience for our riders and driver partners," according to an official. " This service aims to address the unique commuting needs of riders in the city, especially tourists, business travellers, senior citizens, and working professionals by letting them book an Uber for longer journeys while assuring them a comfortable and affordable travel experience," said Arpit Mundra, General Manager, Uber Dhaka. UberHIRE is a hyper-local offering for the Dhaka market, and is great way for tourists to explore and see the beautiful city. Whether it is a quick layover, a business trip or a day-long excursion to explore a city, UberHIRE has seen great response in other cities in which it operates. — BSS
