LDC graduation not final story of success: Atiur

Former Bangladesh Bank governor Atiur Rahman has said that the people have to "prepare" themselves through human resources development before the country becomes a developed nation by 2041. "We are joining the developing nation club from the status of a least developed country (LDC). This is not the final story of the success. Rather, it is a beginning of the new journey," he said. "We have to prepare ourselves to help form the nation," he added. His comments came at a discussion on "Bangladesh's Graduation from the LDC: Challenge and Evaluation" in Dhaka Wednesday. He was addressing the officials of the National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMCO) in the city. Some 50 million people had been graduated from their poverty since 1990 in Bangladesh, which is a great success of the country, Atiur said. —FE Report
