FBCCI urges China to invest in SEZs

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has called on the Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in the special economic zones (SEZs) of Bangladesh for mutual benefits of the two countries. Leaders of the apex trade body made the call in a meeting with a visiting Chinese delegation at the FBCCI office in the city on Sunday. FBCCI president Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) apprised the delegation of the Nanchang Municipal People's Government of the role the private sector is playing in the fast-growing development activities in Bangladesh. "Chinese investors can avail the opportunity of investing in the 100 Special Economic Zones in Bangladesh," he said. He invited the Chinese businessmen to invest in the potential sectors and avail the lucrative offers extended by the government to foreign investors. Deputy mayor of Nanchang Municipal People's Government Ling Wei led the delegation. He invited Bangladeshi businessmen to visit his province and get engaged in the potential business sectors there.

Int'l expo on six sectors ends

The three-day international exhibition on six sectors like power, solar, water, construction, real estate, safety and security concluded in the city on Saturday night. CEMS Global had organised the event to showcase equipments, solutions and the latest technologies on power generation and transmission, water and wastewater treatment equipments, alternate and renewable energy, solar power, construction and, safety and security. The exhibitions were '2nd Water Bangladesh International Expo 2018', '21st Power Bangladesh Expo 2018', '16th Solar Bangladesh Expo 2018', '23rd Con Expo 2018', 'Dhaka International Lighting Expo 2018', '19th Real Estate Expo Bangladesh 2018' & '3rd International Safety & Security Expo'. The organiser along with BUET and RDA jointly held a seminar where the experts discussed the practical application of new knowledge and technologies on water management. Besides, BUET and UNDP Bangladesh together with the CEMS Global organised a workshop on 'Wastewater Treatment and Reuse: Selection and Managing Basic and Advance Technologies'. Four internationally renowned experts from Koch (USA), Panta Rei (Italy), SUEZ (Australia) and JDHC conducted the workshop.
