BCIC gets new chairman

Additional Secretary of the government Md. Haiul Quaium joined Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) as its chairman on Tuesday. Earlier, he joined as Director (Finance) of the BCIC on July 02, 2015. A BCS (Admin) cadre of 1985 batch, Mr Quaium was the deputy commissioner of Brammanbaria and worked in different fields. — Statement

Call to set up patent cell

Leaders of Bangladesh Indenting Agents Association (BIAA) on Tuesday urged the Industries Ministry to introduce a patent coordination cell to protect the ownership of the country's industrial innovation. They demanded to include a representative of the BIAA in the patent coordination cell. The BIAA leaders made the request at a meeting with Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at his office in the city, according to a statement. BIAA President Advocate Rofiqul Islam Masum, Senior Vice President M Nuruzzaman and Vice President AKM Azad, among others, were present at the meeting. — BSS
