Construction fairs begin Thursday
Four international expositions related to building materials will begin Thursday in the city's International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) aiming to give an impetus to the country's construction sector. The three-day event is expected create a matchmaking platform for the stakeholders showcasing the latest products, services and trending technology at one place. The expo organisers made the announcement at a press conference at a city hotel on Monday. According to the organisers, the expos are '3rd Bangladesh Buildcon International Expo 2017', 'Bangladesh Lighting Expo 2017', 'Bangladesh Wood International Expo 2017' and '2nd Interior Exterior International Expo 2017'. ASK Trade and Exhibition Limited, along with Futurex Trade and Events Limited and F Touch Events limited is organising the fair. Director of ASK trade Nandogopal K, sponsoring company Saif Powertec Limited's Director Mohammed Shawkat Hossain Khan and JAT holdings Bangladesh Limited's Assistant General Manager Md. Tazul Islam attended the press conference, among others. According to the organisers, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resource Nasrul Hamid is expected to inaugurate the expo on Thursday. Building construction and materials related 200 local and foreign companies from India, China, Turkey, Singapore, Vietnam, Italy and Germany will display participate in the trade fairs. They will display hundreds of construction materials including bathroom fittings, sanitaryware, chemicals, machinery, lighting equipment, wooden materials, and tools to build furniture and lacquers The expos will remain open for the visitors from 11 am to 7 pm and there will be no entree fees. — FE Report
IATA holds safety training for Biman crew
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) organised a three-day safety programme titled "Crew Resource Management for Instructor (CRMI)" for Biman Bangladesh Airlines crew at the Bangladesh Airlines Training Centre. World renowned aviation trainer Richard Khan, who has 20,000 hours flying track record, is imparting the training programme, which was inaugurated by Biman's Managing Director and CEO AM Mosaddique Ahmed on Sunday, Biman said on Monday. The chief of the national flag carrier said Biman is implementing many safety related programmes to ensure full proof security and safety of the passengers. The safety programmes include safety management system, flight safety, flight data analysis, fire safety, airside safety and emergency response, he added. Biman Bangladesh achieved IATA Operational Safety Audit certificate in the last five years consecutively. A total of 16 crew including 13 of cockpit are receiving the training. — BSS
