BB to release new Tk 1,000 note on Thursday

Bangladesh Bank (BB) is going to release new Tk 1,000 note on Thursday aimed at strengthening the security features of the high value currency. The measurement of the new note is 160 x 70 millimeter and the new note will be available at BB's Motijheel branch on May 23, said a press release. Later, the note will be available at all branches of the central bank. In the new note, the existing design and color of the Tk 1,000 note are unchanged. Crocodile pattern rolling star thread has been added in the note. The new security yarn is better than the security yarn of the existing note and modern technology has been used in the new note which will play an effective role in counteracting the counterfeit. — BSS

Local enterprises to take part in 'Texworld USA' from July 22

A three-day international apparel exhibition 'Texworld USA' will begin at New York in the USA on July 22 next. "Like in the past, Bangladeshi business entities will take part in the tradeshow for promoting Bangladeshi products in the USA market," Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Deputy Director Abu Mukhles Alamgir Hossain told BSS in Dhaka. Seven Bangladeshi business entities are likely to take part in the tradeshow. The business firms are Kohinoor Apparels Limited, HI Apparels Limited, MAM Bangladesh, Asha Textile, Reza Fashion Limited (Reza Group), Farseeing Knit Composite Limited, and Seacotex Fabrics Limited. Alongside the exhibition, 'Apparel Sourcing USA' and 'Home Textiles Sourcing USA' will also be held there. Messe Frankfurt, a large trade fair organiser, is organising the event to highlight over 16 product groups, ensuring the highest possible variety and quality, and affordable products for all apparel end-uses. Through the exhibition, Rummana Afroze, head of operation of the Messe Frankfurt SP Bangladesh, said Bangladesh can take the advantages of the changing economic condition in the USA and its market restrictions to China. "The fair is a unique opportunity to increase the market share in the USA," she added. She informed that the last edition of Texworld USA had more than 750 exhibitors and around 7,000 visitors from all over the world.
