ONE Bank appoints Iftekhar Ahmed Zafar as DMD

Iftekhar Ahmed Zafar has been appointed Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of ONE Bank PLC.

In his new role, he will lead the bank's Transaction Banking and Investment Banking Divisions, while also serving as Chief Strategy Officer, says a press release.

Iftekhar brings over 23 years of extensive banking experience across corporate and institutional banking, financial markets, transaction banking, and finance. Prior to joining ONE Bank, he held several senior leadership positions at Standard Chartered Bank in both Bangladesh and the UAE for over two decades.

He has strong expertise in structured products, derivatives, cash and trade services, financial risk management, and strategic planning. In his most recent role, he was part of the largest transaction banking franchises in Bangladesh, where he played a key role in driving product innovation, enhancing digital connectivity, and delivering multi-currency solutions.

Mr Zafar holds both BBA and MBA degrees from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), the University of Dhaka.

He has also completed various executive education programmes at leading global institutions, including the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), INSEAD, and the

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
