Over 7.8m beneficiaries prefer Nagad in receiving govt allowances

Beneficiaries across the country have continued to choose Nagad, a digital financial service provider of Bangladesh Postal Department, in receiving various government allowances disbursed for the installment of fiscal year 2025-2026 - reflecting the growing public trust in this MFS platform's reliability and accessibility.
Nagad has successfully disbursed approximately Tk 16.50 billion to over 7.8 million beneficiaries under various social safety net programmes under the Department of Social Services and the Mother and Child Benefit Programme of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, says a press release
This time, the disbursement window is open to all MFS operators. Still, a large portion of beneficiaries in all 64 districts have continued to place their trust in Nagad to receive allowances, as it offers secure and convenient services tailored to their needs.
More than 7.5 million beneficiaries received their social safety net allowances amounting to around Tk 16.24 billion directly into their Nagad wallets. The recipients comprised the elderly, widows, marginalised people, persons with disabilities, members of the Bede community, and third-gender individuals. The allowances included monthly payments of Tk 900 for impoverished persons with disabilities, Tk 650 for the elderly and Tk 650 for widows and deserted women.
Under the Mother and Child Benefit Programme, Nagad also disbursed a significant portion of maternity allowances to more than 0.3 million beneficiaries. They receive Tk 850 per month for 36 months (three years).
Administrator of Nagad Md. Motasem Billah said, "It is a matter of great pride for us that millions of citizens across all 64 districts have chosen Nagad to receive their government allowances. This trust inspires us to keep improving our digital infrastructure."
