Plea to set up food courts in districts

Environmentalists at a programme demanded on Saturday the government set up food courts in all the districts for ensuring safe food.

They said the Safe Food Act-2013 is yet to be implemented fully even after 20 months of its enactment.

Poribesh Bachao Andolon, Ainer Patshala and Poribesh Unnayan Society jointly organised a human chain programme in front of the Institute of Fine Arts at Shahbagh in the city.

They demanded the government take stern action against the traders involved in selling unsafe and adulterated foods.

They said without ensuring safe food there will be no sustainable development.  

Assistant secretary of Poba Mahbubul Alam, Md Selim, Atiq Morshed, among others, were present.
