Prime Bank Eye Hospital to provide free treatment

FE Report | June 28, 2018 00:00:00

The Prime Bank Eye Hospital, in partnership with Manabik Shahajya Sanstha (MSS), an NGO, will provide eye treatment to underprivileged people free of cost.

The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this end on Wednesday.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Prime Bank Eye Hospital Dr Iqbal Anwar and Executive Director of the MSS ANM Emam Hasnath signed the MoU at the latter's office in the capital.

Under the MoU, a unit of the NGO called 'Eye Care Project' (ECP) will arrange the eye treatment programmes.

President of MSS Feroz M Hassan, its adviser Tarikul Ghani and Project Director of the hospital Dr Anthony Albert were present at the signing ceremony.

Feroz M Hassan said the NGO has been providing free eye treatment to the poor people with the support of partner hospitals across the country.

Such efforts would help the country minimise unavoidable blindness, he added.

ECP advisor Tarikul Ghani said, "We have signed agreements on free eye treatment with 15 other partner hospitals across the country since 2014."

The latest agreement would create scope for the poor people in the capital city to receive free eye treatment, he added.

Between June 2014 and December 2017, the ECP treated 17,674 eye patients, performed 1,343 surgeries and distributed 3,537 spectacles, he said.
