Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon has urged all stakeholders to sensitise people about responsible tourism for ensuring sustainability of the country's tourist places, especially nature sensitive spots like Saint Martin's Island, Ratargul and Bisanakandi.
He made the call while exchanging views with different transport owners and other tourism service providers at Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) in the capital on Tuesday, reports BSS.
He also urged the long-distance transport owners to run 'visual promo' on responsible tourism at their vehicles while operating them to different tourist spots like Cox's Bazar, Chittagong Hill Tracks, Khulna, Sylhet and Bogra.
The minister said the government is relentlessly working to facilitate tourism and as a result more than 10 million (one crore) domestic tourists travelled across the country last year.
Menon urged the private sector to make more investment in the leisure sector along with the government for providing quality tourism service to the people.
