S Korean export boom continues in March

March 29, 2018 00:00:00

SEOUL, Mar 28 (Reuters): South Korea's exports were expected to continue their recent strong growth in March, driven by brisk global demand for memory chips and petroleum products, a Reuters survey showed on Wednesday.

The median forecast from the poll of 12 economists predicted exports would rise 7.5 per cent from a year earlier, accelerating from February's 4.0 per cent annual growth. That compares with combined growth of 12.8 per cent over January-February when the Lunar New Year holiday reduced the number of working days.

"There won't be that much of change in export trend when global demand for semiconductors and petroleum goods is strong," said Park Sang-hyun, an economist at HI Investment & Securities
