Sainsbury's recalls sliced beetroot

April 14, 2018 00:00:00

Sainsbury's has pulled jars of sliced beetroot from shelves after small shards of glass were found in a batch, reports Sky News.

The supermarket is warning customers not to eat the 340g own-brand product, which has a best-before date of August 2019.

Sainsbury's is describing the recall - affecting jars with the batch code L318N 1737 - as a "precautionary measure".

Customers who purchased the beetroot are being urged to return it to their local store.

A Sainsbury's notice said: "We have identified the possible presence of small pieces of glass in one batch of the above product.

"As a precautionary measure, we are asking all customers who have bought this product with the above batch code not to consume it and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury's store where they will receive a full refund.
