JS body asks Biman

FE Report | May 01, 2018 00:00:00

The parliamentary standing committee on tourism ministry on Monday suggested Biman Bangladesh Airlines to sell tickets for Hajj pilgrims upon full payment by the travel agencies concerned to ensure the pilgrims' smooth journey.

The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) body also advised Biman to go for automation of its ticket selling on both domestic and international routes, improve luggage handling system, inform passengers within the shortest possible time in case of flight schedule change, and facilitate quick unloading of cargo goods.

The recommendations came at the 36th meeting of the committee at JS with its chairman Faruk Khan in the chair.

The committee also suggested operating flights 2/3 days a week to Ishwardi airport, quick settlement of land acquisition issues for the airport, and resolve legal matters in this regard by coordinating with the ministry and the attorney general.

The committee also recommended forming a sub-committee with Nazrul Islam Chowdhury as its convener and Sabiha Nahar as member to submit report on the progress of overall development work at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.
