The country's apex trade body has urged the government to address the problems facing the local industries.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers and Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin made the call on Saturday.
He sat with the industry stakeholders in Bogura organised by Bogura Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) organised the event.
Mr Mohiuddin laid emphasis on investment in the potential sectors in the northern Bogura region, utilising its commercial prospects.
The stakeholders at the event called for resolving the problems being faced by the local industries.
They sought more local investment for helping local industries flourish and also for regional development.
The tradespeople also put forward some recommendations for industrial development in the country's north.
The FBCCI will pinpoint the problems of local industries through holding talks at district level.
Earlier in the day, they (FBCCI leaders) had a meeting with the business leaders of Sirajganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
As part of this, the FBCCI directors are now touring some 18 districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.
They will also sit with Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
FBCCI senior vice-president Sheikh Fazle Fahim and Bogura Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Md Masudur Rahman Milon were present at the event.
Also present, among others, were FBCCI directors Hasina Newaaz, Prabir Kumar Saha, Md Rejaul Kariem Rejnu, Khairul Huda Chopol, Mohammad Anwar Sadat Sarker and Dilip Kumar Agarwala.
