Taiwan’s industrial output rises

TAIPEI, Aug 25 (Xinhua): The industrial production index in Taiwan rose to 112.57 in July, up 3.03 per cent year on year, according to data from the island's economic authorities.

The sub-index for the manufacturing sector, which accounts for 90 per cent of the island's industrial output, increased 3.07 per cent from a year ago, while that for the mining and civil engineering sector dropped 7.13 per cent.

The sub-reading for the water supply sector increased 0.27 per cent, and that for the electricity and gas supply sector rose 3.30 per cent.
