Thai June CPI up 1.38pc

Thailand's annual headline consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.38 per cent in June, compared with a forecast of a 1.54 per cent increase, reports Reuters.

The increase was 1.49 per cent in May, Thailand's commerce ministry data showed on Monday.

According to the data, the core inflation rate was 0.83 per cent in June, the same as in the poll, and compared with May's 0.80 per cent.

The headline inflation rate was 0.97 per cent in January-June while the core rate was 0.69 per cent.

The commerce ministry has predicted headline inflation in a range of 0.8-1.6 per cent this year.

The central bank has left its policy interest rate unchanged at 1.50 per cent, near record lows, since April 2015.

It will next review monetary policy on August 8.
