Thrust on promoting regional trade

Leaders of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) have put importance on promoting trade with regional countries and organisations to accelerate economic development in Rangpur area as well as the whole region.

They also laid emphasis on encouraging joint investments to promote private sector enterprises, trade and commerce for industrialisation to create more jobs for unemployed youths and further seed up economic growth in the whole region.

They came up with the observations at the concluding ceremony of an annual general meeting (AGM) -2018 of RCCI at its auditorium in Rangpur city on Monday evening, with RCCI President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu in the chair, reports BSS.

The RCCI President presented excerpts of the previous AGM, annual report on RCCI activities, audit report, statements of accounts, revised budget for 2018 and proposed budget for 2019-20 fiscal year, and those were adopted unanimously at the AGM.

Director of FBCCI Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, former RCCI President Abul Kashem, its incumbent Senior Vice-president Mostoba Hossain Ripan and Vice-president Manjur Ahmed Azad, former Senior Vice-president Amirul Haque Khokan and former Vice-president Mozammel Hossain Dambel participated in the discussion.

Former RCCI Director Fazlul Haque, its general members Md Azizullah, Moktadir Hossain Litan, Sultan Mahmud, Rashed Rana Rasu, Golam Mostafa, Sohel Md Nure Elahi, Harunur Rashid, Ataur Rahman, Kazi Abul Kashem, Nafiza Sultana, also spoke.

The speakers put forward suggestions for bringing more dynamism in RCCI activities, setting up more industries in the private sector, flourishing trade and business to accelerate economic advancement of Rangpur division as well as in the sub-Himalayan region.

The RCCI President expressed firm pledge to take necessary steps in accelerating development of Rangpur region, promoting banking sector to create more young entrepreneurs and promote trade and commerce with the SAARC and BBIN nations.

"The RCCI board of directors had resolved various problems of local entrepreneurs, industrialists and businesspersons in exports-imports, banking and VAT-tax sectors through discussions with the authorities concerned," he said.

He said the RCCI board of directors would continue to assist local businesspersons for preserving all business-related interests and thanked businesspersons for their continuous cooperation in ensuring congenial atmosphere for running businesses smoothly.

"We will continue our efforts along with the government and regional initiatives to speed up development in Rangpur division through flourishing private sector industries, enterprises and investments jointly with the SAARC and BBIN nations," he added.
