United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) celebrated the International Women's Day with a special discussion at the bank's head office in Dhaka on Saturday.
At the event, UCB announced several initiatives, including the launch of a day-care center for working mothers, an internal healthcare service, and measures to ensure a more balanced gender ratio at mid and senior management levels, says a statement.
Qamrun Nahar Zahir, Chairperson of Ananta Group, was present as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Bank Director (SMESPD) Nawshad Mustafa, Deputy Managing Director of SME Foundation Nazim Hasan Sattar, UCB Chairman Sharif Zahir, Vice Chairman Md Shazzad Hossoin, Audit Committee Chairman Obaidur Rahman, and Managing Director & CEO Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid spoke at the event.
Bangladesh Bank's Joint Directors (SMESPD) Shahriar Nasrin and Hafiya Tajrian along with senior officials of UCB also attended the event.
A special feature of the event was the presentation of inspiring success stories by female entrepreneurs. Participants included Kazi Kakoli, owner of 'Shuddho Krishi'; Farhana Kabir, owner of 'Roxy's Collection' Shity Salma Khan, owner of 'Sat Satero' & 'ISC Professional Training Center'; and Sumshrita Poddar Bithi, owner of 'B2'.
