A day-long career fair was held Saturday at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) on its campus, playing the matchmaking role between aspirant employees and employers.
About 30 organisations participated in the fair where events like career development seminars, workshops, CV collection and spot interviews took place.
The country's top job providers such as BRAC, Walton, Renata, Elite Paints, and ICDDR,B collected CVs and interviewed job aspirants at the fair.
The Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) President and Managing Director at Berger Paints Bangladesh Rupali Chowdhury inaugurated the fair.
President of the Bangladesh Society For Human Resources Management (BHRSM) Md. Musharrof Hossain was present as the special guest.
In her speech, Rupali Chowdhury said that employers do not see CGPA or university at first, they look for basic skills, energy level, positive attitude, capacity to deal with complex situation.
She urged the students to be "good human being besides obtaining good scores."
She stressed the need for hard work, saying, "No matter how talented you are, you have to work hard, you have to improve continuously."
She also urged the students to learn from technology and not to fear about competition.
In his address, Mr Hossain said job had no destination, but career had a destination and aspiration. He requested universities to ensure practical education by bringing professionalism to classrooms.
Professor H.M. Jahirul Haque gave the inaugural speech, while Professor Imran Rahman, Special Advisor to the ULAB Board of Trustees, delivered the vote of thanks.
