February 14, 2025 00:00:00

Mobile financial service provider 'Upay' has officially been selected to implement the electronic toll collection (ETC) system at the Padma Bridge toll plaza.

The electronic toll payment system will be introduced soon for the Padma Bridge users, eliminating the need for cash transactions, says a statement.

This move aims to streamline the toll collection process, saving time for vehicles and enhancing transparency.

According to the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, the initiative aims to expand digital transactions and ensure a more transparent, seamless, and efficient toll collection process.

After evaluating various MFS providers, 'Upay' was chosen on Wednesday for implementation of the digital system.

An official of the Bridge Authority said, "Once toll collection through 'Upay' is operational, drivers will find it easier and faster to pay tolls, reducing travel time and improving the bridge's management efficiency."

Representatives from "Upay" have assured that their advanced technology-based services will allow users to pay tolls quickly and securely. Customers will be able to access this service seamlessly using mobile apps and other digital platforms.

Electronic toll payment via 'Upay' is already available at several other toll plazas, including Bhanga Toll Plaza, Dhaleshwari Toll Plaza, Meghna Bridge, Gomti Bridge, Charsindur Bridge, Karnaphuli Bridge, Madhumati Bridge, Bhairab Bridge, Ashuganj Bridge, and Hanif Flyover.
