Tanjima Mostafa, Director of MGI, receives SUSS Label certificate from Kevin M Roepke, Executive Director for MENASA, USSEC, at a city hotel on Sunday.
The US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) has recognised Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) as the first company in the country to adopt the Sustainable US Soy (SUSS) Label.
MGI was officially presented the certification at a programme at InterContinental Dhaka on Sunday. MGI Director Tanjima Mostafa received the certificate from Kevin M Roepke, Executive Director, Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA), USSEC, says a press release.
The SUSS label will now appear on MGI's soybean product packaging. This makes it one of only 20 organisations in South Asia to feature this label. It is expected to influence key sectors in Bangladesh such as edible oil, animal feed, and food production, where demand for traceable and responsibly sourced raw materials is growing.
Thanking the USSEC for the recognition, Tanjima Mostafa said, "By integrating sustainability in our supply chain, we deliver quality nutrition while creating lasting value for people and the planet."
"It gives us great pleasure to see MGI leading the adoption of the Sustainable U.S. Soy label" said Kevin Roepke. "Their partnership with U.S. Soy reflects a strong commitment to embedding sustainability across their supply chains."
