The 17th Dhaka Travel Mart 2022 drew a huge crowd on Friday, as the participating tour operators and airlines offered lucrative discounts to the travel enthusiasts.

The three-day travel and tourism fair began at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Thursday - to give impetus to the recovery efforts of the country's tourism industry, hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

The fair is jointly organised by travel magazine Bangladesh Monitor, ticket and hotel booking platform Triplover, and US-Bangla Airlines.

Around 50 organisations from home and abroad, including airlines, hotels, resorts, hospitals, tour operators, and travel-related service providers, are participating in the fair.

The fair will remain open for visitors from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm today (Saturday), and Tk 40 entry fee will be required for each person.

Among the participators, Sea Crown, a hotel in Cox's Bazar, is offering 30 per cent discount on room tariff until September 30 to customers visiting the fair, said its senior executive Md Shafiqur Rahman.

Best Western, another hotel in Cox's Bazar, has come up with a big discount of about 50 per cent for next one month, said the hotel's assistant manager Yeasir Mostafa.

Meanwhile, CCULB Resort and Convention Hall, located near Purbachal New Town in the capital, is offering 30 per cent discount on room tariff for the fair visitors.

The discount offer at the resort, run by the Co-Operative Credit Union League of Bangladesh, will be available for next one month, said its head of operation and marketing Abu Seheri Forhad.

Besides, Bangkok Hospital, situated in Huaykwang of Bangkok in Thailand, is offering up to 50 per cent discount for Bangladeshi nationals going there for medical treatment.

The national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines is also offering 15 per cent discount on all international air tickets and 20 per cent discount for destinations like Kathmandu, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangkok.

US-Bangla Airlines, one of the fair sponsors, is also offering 20 per cent discount on air tickets of different routes for domestic and international destinations.

Another local airliner, NOVOAIR, is also trying to attract travellers with 15 per cent discount on tickets of all domestic routes and to Kolkata.
