World Standards Day today --

October 14, 2025 00:00:00

World Standards Day will be observed in Bangladesh on Tuesday, in line with the global initiative to raise awareness about the importance of quality in products and services.

The theme of this year's World Standards Day is "A Shared Vision for a Better World." In keeping with this theme, Bangladesh, like many other countries, is celebrating the day with due respect and enthusiasm, according to a press statement.

This year, special emphasis has been placed on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: 'Partnerships for the Goals'. The core objective of this goal is to strengthen cooperation in five key areas -- finance, technology, trade, capacity building, and policy coordination -- among both developed and developing nations.

As the national standards body, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has undertaken various programmes to mark the day. As part of this, BSTI will organise discussions and promotional activities at the head office as well as at the divisional and district offices.

A discussion will be held at the Krishibid Institution in Dhaka today under the initiative of BSTI. The main speaker will be Md. Obaidur Rahman, Secretary of the Ministry of Industries.

The session will be chaired by SM Ferdous Alam, Director General (Grade-1) of BSTI.
