Youth group launches career portal

The government will facilitate youths in developing innovative ideas for the information and technology (ICT) sector to promote digitalisation, state minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak said Tuesday.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a Bangla website as the chief guest at Janata Tower in Dhaka.

The government has already taken initiatives to achieve the goal of becoming a middle income country by 2021 and a developed country by 2041.

Digital wallet, utility payment system through mobile apps, and free WiFi zones are among the steps to reduce urban-rural information gap, he noted.

Youth Opportunities, a local platform, has launched its Bangla website aiming to provide career-related information for youths across the world.

The state minister said that the government has already sanctioned a project for the disadvantaged youths, especially the physically challenged to bring them into the journey of digitalisation.

The Bangla website was installed with the purpose of providing equal and easy access to different opportunities for the country's youths, especially for the rural and underprivileged youths at free of charges.

The state minister said that a total of 230 countries across the world can visit the website to get career-related and academic information.

There is a correlation between access and success, and to achieve the goal of digital Bangladesh, such an initiative is required for self-development, he added.

"We are also planning to develop apps and software to help the handicapped people inviting them to the Internet world and get updated, said Osama Bin Noor, a co-founder of Youth Opportunities.
