CLARIFICATION (2025-12-03)

The Embassy of the People's Republic of Algeria in Bangladesh has issued a clarification regarding an article titled "Differing Geo-Political Dimensions in North Africa" published in The Financial Express on December 01, 2025.

Following is the text of the clarification:

The Embassy would like to state in this regard that Algeria, as a sovereign and independent nation, draws its strength from the profound sacrifices made during its Revolution, where over 1.5 million martyrs laid down their lives for the country's freedom. This legacy continues to guide Algeria's unwavering commitment to sovereignty, justice, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations. Algeria remains a great and proud nation, firmly rooted in its principles, and is resolute in its determination to remain unaffected by external influences.

Algeria's foreign policy is based on firm and tangible principles, emphasizing sovereignty, justice, and respect for international law. It fosters an open environment for foreign investment, welcoming investors from all around the world. This approach is driven by transparency and fairness, prioritizing mutual growth and cooperation over favouritism.

It is important to remind that the conflict of Western Sahara, to which the author referred to in this article, is a matter of decolonization, a fact well-known internationally and recognized by the United Nations since 1963, in which Algeria is not party, as clearly stated in the UN Security Council Resolutions, including Resolution 2797. Inspired by its own legacy, Algeria will continue to champion peace, justice, and a peaceful resolution to the conflict, ensuring the rights of the Sahrawi people are respected.
