Psychology behind trend -

June 29, 2025 12:00:00

From Facebook and TikTok to Instagram, we see the same videos everywhere. Whether it's "Tinkerbell Turmeric" or "Me Jalo," the trends are trending. But what is the psychology behind this? What makes people follow these trends?

The number one reason is the bandwagon effect. When we see others doing something cool, fun, or exciting, we want to try it too. Because when something becomes popular, it often feels more valuable or socially acceptable in our minds.

Another reason is the desire to belong. Humans are social creatures-we want to fit in. Following trends gives us a sense of community. It makes us feel special and part of something bigger.

FOMO, or the fear of missing out, also plays a role. People don't want to be left out of something exciting or culturally significant. We want to be part of what everyone is talking about. This fear of being "out of the loop" motivates people to engage with what's trending.

In the end, it's human nature to follow what others are doing-especially when it looks fun and exciting.
