SEOUL, July 02 (Agencies): North Korea and the United States (US) held a working-level talks on Sunday at the inter-Korean border village of Panmunjom.

The Yonhap news agency reported on Monday citing an unidentified diplomatic source.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui and US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim met at the Tongilgak, a DPRK building in Panmunjom, for about one and a half hours on Sunday.

Choe and Kim were estimated to have discussed various issues between the two sides, including US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to the DPRK expected to be made on Friday.

They had met ahead of the summit meeting on June 12 in Singapore between top DPRK leader Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump to prepare for the first DPRK-US summit.

Meanwhile, the US has a plan that would lead to the dismantling of DPRK's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes in a year, President Donald Trump's national security adviser said on Sunday.

John Bolton said top US diplomat Mike Pompeo will be discussing that plan with North Korea in the near future. Bolton added that it would be to the North's advantage to cooperate to see sanctions lifted quickly and aid from South Korea and Japan start to flow.

Bolton's remarks on CBS' "Face the Nation" appeared to be the first time the Trump administration had publicly suggested a timeline for North Korea to fulfill the commitment leader Kim Jong Un made at a summit with President Donald Trump last month for the "complete denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula.
