DOHA, Mar 09 (AFP): Several more explosions were heard across Doha and warning sirens sounded in Manama on Monday, according to AFP journalists, as Iran pressed its aerial campaign against Gulf neighbours.
The oil-rich Gulf states have been targeted by waves of drones and missiles since Tehran launched its retaliation campaign in the wake of the US and Israeli attacks against Iran.
Attack on Cyprus is an attack
on all of Europe: Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron said that an attack on Cyprus was an attack on all of Europe as he spoke during a visit to the island nation after it was targeted by Iranian-made drones.
"When Cyprus is attacked, it is Europe that is attacked," Macron said in Paphos alongside the leaders of Cyprus and Greece.
"The defence of Cyprus is obviously a key issue for your country, for your neighbour, partner and friend, Greece, but also for France and, with it, the European Union," he added.
Israel striking 'regime
infrastructure' in
central Iran
The Israeli military said it launched a wave of strikes targeting "regime infrastructure" in central Iran on Monday, the first such announcement since the Islamic republic appointed a new supreme leader.
Israeli forces have "begun an additional wave of strikes on Iranian terror regime infrastructure in central Iran", the military said in a brief statement, shortly after announcing strikes on Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon.
S Arabia intercepts drone
attack targeting oil field
The Saudi defence ministry said Monday it had thwarted a drone attack targeting an oil field in the kingdom's east, near the Emirati border.
"Four drones heading towards the Shaybah oil field were intercepted and destroyed," a defence ministry statement said.
